Dr Chimezie Osuigwe, a retired vice-principal in imo state, aged 62, has been
arrested by the Imo state police for allegedly killing his mother and
hiding her corpse in his house since 2003.
He was arrested after the embalmed body of his mother was discovered hidden in a cupboard in his house by another family member.
Police say the body of the woman, Lucy Osuigwe, who was declared missing in 2003, 'was found in a large cupboard inside a
shrine in a private room in a circumstance depicting ritual practice.'
The police believe the retired educationist and devotee of the Guru Maharaji sect, killed his mother for ritual purposes. He is being held for first degree murder.
